“winnow while you work…woohoohoohoohoohoohoo”

Okay, so that's not exactly what one Ms. S. White sings when cleaning up for the wee devils who occupy her cottage, but whatever. Its also apparent that I have no idea how to whistle online, but, again, whatever. The above lyrical alteration will have to be made to suit my task-at-hand.

Here marks the spot on the ol' blogosphere for me to document my new project, my new way of life: dramatically winnowing down. I can't honestly say if I'd been asked to winnow anything a short while ago that I would have had any clue what I was being asked to do. So assuming you might not either, or you just need a definition refresher, here's how Encarta defines it:
win·now [wínnō]
verb (past win·nowed, past participle win·nowed, present participle win·now·ing, 3rd person present singular win·nows)
1. agriculture use air to remove chaff: to separate grain from its husks (chaff) by tossing it in the air or blowing air through it
2. examine something to remove bad parts: to examine something in order to remove the bad, unusable, or undesirable parts
noun
process of winnowing: the process of separating grain from chaff, or a device used to do this

For our purposes here, we're going with part two of definition number two, to examine something in order to remove the bad, unusable, or undesirable parts.

So that's it in a nutshell. My new project. My new way of life.

Clear as mud?

I thought so.
